Bogus $50 bill leads to arrest of four in Sodus

The Wayne County Office of Sheriff reported the arrest of four people on Tuesday (4/10) at 7:36 p.m. for distributing counterfeit money.

Deputies responded to the Dollar General store in the Town of Sodus when store employees reported receiving a counterfeit $50 dollar bill. The suspects were located a short distance from the store. After thr traffic stop, Candice Smith, age 18 of Remington Street in Rochester, Essence House, age 20 of Murray Street in Rochester, Christopher Sherman, age 20 of VanAuker Street in Rochester, and Arthur Blay, age 24, of Concord New Hampshire were arrested.

All four were charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the first degree and Conspiracy in the fourth degree.

Blay was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Sherman was additionally charged with traffic violations including Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle third degree, Failed to Signal Turn and Unlicensed Operator.

The four were arraigned in the Sodus Town Court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash/$20,000 bond. They are scheduled to reappear in the Sodus Court at a later date to answer to the charges.
