Several branches of law enforcement were conducting a search on Thursday morning in the area of Cayuga Inlet, located off of Route 89 and across from the Ithaca Children’s Garden.
Members of the Ithaca Police Department, New York State Police and an agent from the FBI were present at the scene. The area was marked off with crime scene tape and metal detectors were being used.
About nine law enforcement vehicles were parked along the road and the search was focused near the shore, although officials declined to comment on what they were looking for.
