UPDATE: Thousands without power in Auburn-area Wednesday evening

Thousands were without power around Auburn as of 8 p.m.

Reports began circulating around 7:30 p.m. that locations along the Arterial in Cayuga County — starting in the City of Auburn were without power.

It’s unclear what caused the power outage. NYSEG said 3,510 were without power at the time.

NYSEG was estimating that power would be restored in all of the impacted communities by 11:15 p.m. However, by 8:45 p.m. power was restored to those areas impacted.

Communities without power earlier in the evening included the City of Auburn, and the towns of Brutus, Owasco, Sennett, and Throop.

Here’s the latest power outage information from NYSEG.
