The Trumansburg man accused of raping an underage co-worker last year pleaded guilty to a low-level felony Monday in Seneca County Court.
A more serious rape charge was dismissed.
Jesse Farina-Geiger, 25, pleaded guilty to third-degree rape, a class E felony punishable by up to four years in prison. Judge Dennis Bender sentenced Farina-Geiger to 10 years’ probation, and Farina-Geiger will have to register as a sex offender.
Farina-Geiger faced one count of first-degree rape, five counts of third- degree rape, and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office criminal investigations division arrested Farina-Geiger last August. Police said while he was on the management team of a store at Waterloo Premium Outlets in Junius, Farina-Geiger engaged in sexual intercourse with a subordinate employee on multiple dates. At the time, police said some of the intercourse involved forcible compulsion and happened at the business while both were working.
The victim in the case was a 16-year-old girl.
Undersheriff John Cleere declined to name the store, saying police want to protect the identity of the victim.
