Noah Syndergaard executed some timely breaking pitches to get big groundouts and Amed Rosario delivered a couple of key hits from the nine spot to help earn the Mets a 4-2 victory over the Marlins in the series opener on Monday night at Marlins Park.
At 8-1, the Mets are off to their best start since 2006 (also 8-1). Monday also marked the club’s sixth consecutive win.
Arriving in Miami early in the morning after a 12-inning win at the Nationals on Sunday night, the Mets did what needed to be done and have now won six in a row. Syndergaard allowed two runs (one earned) while striking out five in six innings.
