Addison driver left scene of crash, charged with DWI

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard says that a 43-year-old Addison resident was arrested after an investigation into a hit and run property damage accident that resulted in a short foot pursuit.

On April 7th Robin L. Smith, 43, of Addison was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, having a BAC over 0.18 percent, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and failure to stay in lane.

Allard says Smith was the operator of a vehicle on Front Street, which left the roadway, struck an electric pole and street sign. After the accident she fled the scene, according to Allard, who says that she was apprehended a short while later.

Smith was found to be in an intoxicated condition upon full-investigation.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
