Route 96 crash leads to DWI charge for Varick driver

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce reports that on Saturday at 3 a.m. deputies arrested a Varick resident following an investigation into a proeprty damage accident on State Route 96.

Jamie M Eldredge, 24, of Varick was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving with .08 percent BAC or more and having an Expired Registration.

Eldredge was traveling southbound on State Route 96 when he left the west shoulder of the roadway striking a culvert. Investigators say Eldredge suffered lacerations to the hands and face and was treated and released at the scene by South Seneca Ambulance.



The vehicle suffered extensive damage and was towed from the scene. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Romulus and Varick Fire Departments.

Investigators also say Eldredge was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in the Town of Varick Court on May 9th to answer the charges.
