There is no arguing this: Hobart and William Smith Colleges is hosting some of the best debate teams in the world this week.
HWS said 16 of the best at their craft are competing in what is considered one of the world’s most prestigious international tournaments.
The 12th annual Round Robin began today and runs through Saturday. It features student teams from Yale University, Oxford University, the University of Cape Town, the National University of Singapore, Stanford University, and 2018 world champion Harvard University.
“We have made a name for ourselves for running fantastic tournaments,” said Joshua Harper, an HWS junior and vice president of HWS Debate. “We as a team get to show the entire community our dynamic and enduring ability to rise to an occasion. When all is said and done, we get the satisfaction of setting the bar high for what qualifies as a world-class tournament.”
