A man in a hooded sweatshirt knocked a 71-year-old woman to the ground and took her purse this morning as she was walking to Easter services in Ithaca, police said.
The robbery occurred at 7:45 a.m. today in the 600 block of West Seneca Street, according to Ithaca police. The suspect was described as thin, roughly five-foot-six to five-foot-eight, and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
The unidentified victim was not injured. Chief Pete Tyler said the stolen purse contained rosary beads that are more than 50 years old and carry great sentimental value.
