Driver ticketed, three hospitalized after Ovid crash

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce says deputies alongside multiple other first responders were called to the scene of a personal injury motor vehicle accident on Parish Road in Ovid.

The accident happened on Wednesday around 6:15 p.m., according to Luce, who says two cars were involved.

Kenneth Sterling, 62, of Milport was traveling eastbound when he crossed into the westbound lane, causing a near head-on collision with an SUV operated by Karly Lavarnway, 31, of Ovid.



Ovid and Interlaken Fire Departments were on-scene and assisted with extricating the occupants of the vehicles. South Seneca Ambulance treated Lavarnway for overall pain at the scene and then transported her to Cayuga Medical Center.

Two young children were passengers in Lavarnway’s vehicle. One identified as a 5-year-old was treated for neck pain at the scene and transported to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment. The other occupant, identified as a 2-year-old was transported

Sterling was uninjured in the crash, according to deputies. He was issued a traffic ticket for failure to keep right, and will appear in Town of Ovid Court at a later date to answer the charge.
