An Auburn man was arrested Monday and charged with felony assault after he hit another man with a baseball bat earlier this month.
Christopher M. Liddle, 30, and the victim, a 32-year-old male, were involved in an argument early in the morning on March 9 that ended with Liddle striking the victim and his vehicle with a baseball bat, according to the Auburn Police Department. The incident took place "in the area of Cottage Street," Deputy Chief Roger Anthony said. The victim called the police and by the time officers arrived on the scene, Liddle had left the area.
The victim received treatment for non-life threatening injuries at Auburn Community Hospital, Anthony said.
A warrant was issued for Liddle's arrest on March 15 by Auburn City Court Judge Michael McKeon. APD officers spotted Liddle walking Monday night around 8:15 p.m. When officers approached Liddle, he fled on foot. Officers pursued him on foot for "quite a while," Anthony said, and eventually apprehended him on Franklin Street.
