Suspicious person complaint leads to DWI, drug charges in Penn Yan

Police responded to a complaint of a male acting suspiciously on Walnut Street in Penn Yan on March 20th, according to the Penn Yan Police Department.

Officers checked the area and shortly thereafter located Michael Fultz, 33, operating a vehicle on the southbound side of Lawrence Street.

Police say that after observing the vehicle operating on the northbound side of the street, a traffic stop was initiated. During the traffic stop a series of field sobriety tests were conducted.



Fultz was found to be intoxicated, and in possession of multiple baggies of cocaine. In addition to the baggies of cocaine — police say that two other baggies with white, powdery residue were located inside the vehicle — along with a significant sum of cash.

He was charged with failure to keep right, driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Futlz was arraigned in Milo Town Court and remanded to the Yates County Jail.
