An Auburn man is facing several criminal charges after allegedly trying to stab a man in the chest Saturday, the Auburn Police Department said.
Leo M. Burgess, 27, 190 Van Anden St., was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony; criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony; and second-degree menacing, a class A misdemeanor. The victim had invited Burgess into his home on Pulaski Street, police said. Police said it appeared the victim had met Burgess that night.
Police said Burgess tried to stab the victim at 1:35 a.m. The victim defended himself, getting a minor cut on one of his thumbs from the knife, police said. Police said Burgess then punched the victim in the face and head several times.
