Auburn woman pleads guilty to selling morphine in Cayuga County

An Auburn woman has admitted selling drugs that had been prescribed to her.

Shari Parkis, 49, of 85 Cottage St., pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony.

During her plea, Parkis said she sold her morphine medication to another person in June 2016. Cayuga County Chief Assistant District Attorney Christopher Valdina said Parkis had also sold her prescription codeine.

Parkis could face up to nine years in prison; however, Judge Mark Fandrich agreed to sentence her to no worse than six months in Cayuga County Jail and five years probation. She would also have to pay $140 in restitution.
