Cynthia Nixon, the actress who starred in “Sex and the City,” announced Monday that she will launch a progressive campaign challenging Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a primary.
“I love New York, and today I’m announcing my candidacy for governor,” Nixon wrote in a Twitter post that included a link to her campaign website. “Join us.”
Nixon, a lifelong New Yorker, has talked about a potential primary against Cuomo for weeks.
The 51-year-old actress who played the character of Miranda Hobbes in the TV series has described herself as a progressive activist who advocates for reforms in public education.
