Police: Seneca Falls man arrested after leaving scene of rollover accident on Ovid St.

A 44-year-old Seneca Falls man was charged with leaving the scene of an accident less than 24 hours after police responded to a one-car rollover on Ovid Street.

On Wednesday at approximately 11:38 p.m. the Seneca Falls Police Department responded to the report of a rollover crash on Ovid Street. Upon arrival they located a pickup truck on its roof in the ditch.

Police say the vehicle struck three mailboxes – damaging them, and even hit a speed limit sign.

The driver was not found at the scene, and determined by police to have left before their arrival.

On Thursday at 7:40 p.m. William F. Petrie, 44, of Seneca Falls was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, speed not reasonable, and failure to keep right.

Petrie will answer the charges in Seneca Falls Town Court on March 29th.
