State Police: Romulus man had .18% BAC during traffic stop

State Police say a Romulus man was arrested for DWI after a traffic stop on State Route 96A on Wednesday.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop when they noted a loud exhaust on a vehicle. The driver, identified as Steven A. Wingler, 33, of Romulus, was found to be intoxicated after failing multiple field sobriety tests during the stop.

He was transported to their Waterloo headquarters where he provided a breath sample of 0.18 percent. Wingler was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and inadequate exhaust.

The charges will be answered in Romulus Town Court at a later date.
