Corning woman charged with welfare fraud; received $908 in benefits illegally

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard says a Corning woman was arrested after an investigation into welfare fraud.

As result of the investigation Amy Hargrave, 45, was charged with one count of offering a false instrument for filing and welfare fraud. The false filing charge is a felony, according to the Sheriff, who said that more than $908 worth of benefits were illegally obtained.

She was issued appearance tickets and will answer the charges at a later date.
