Community rallying behind Ithaca woman who needs transplant

Sarah Jones Williamson was getting ready to marry her now-husband, Ithaca Police Officer Jamie Williamson this past Summer -she had an upper respiratory infection just before.

After the wedding, she began to feel tired and weak she went to her doctor for a blood test.

"They thought it might have been a lab error because my levels were so low, and they took me in an ambulance to Upstate that night. I got four transfusions, and two bone marrow biopsies," said the 37 year-old mother of four.

"I have short telomeres, a telomere is at the end of your chromosome, it keeps it from unraveling, and as you age, they get shorter over time naturally, and some of mine are fizzled out," she continued.
