Clyde-Savannah championship season ends in Buffalo, 72-56

The Section V Class D representative to the Far West Regionals, Clyde-Savannah. fell one game short of the NYSPHSAA Final Four on Saturday dropping a 72-56 decision to Section VI’s Buffalo East at Buffalo State.

Buffalo East dominated the interior outscoring Clyde-Savannah 40-14 in the paint and outscoring C-S 21-5 in second chance points.

In a game that featured 10 lead changes, the Golden Eagles trailed by just 1 point at the half, and 3 points at the end of the third quarter. Buffalo East would own the final period outscoring Clyde 22-9.

Justin Allen scored 27 points and pulled down 20 rebounds for East while Willard Anderson scored 27 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 4 assists in the victory that sends Buffalo East to the state final four in Binghamton next weekend.

Marcus Chance Jr. led the Golden Eagles with 25 points on 8-20 shooting, going 4 of 12 from beyond the arc. Derrick Chance scored 19 points on 2-11 shooting. Dru Carnevale, who was hampered with a wrist injury, scored 6 points on 2-11 shooting to go with 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

Clyde-Savannah head coach Tim Jackson said, “We lost to a great team. We gave it everything we had, but we just ran out gas.”

The Golden Eagles end the season at 21-5 with a Wayne County League Championship and a Section V Class D1 Championship.
