Police searching for two suspects following overnight shooting in Ithaca

Police in Ithaca are investigating a shooting, which resulted in one person being transported to a regional trauma center overnight.

Police were called to a residence in the 400 block of Lake Avenue around 1:38 a.m. to investigate a reported shooting. Tompkins County Dispatch advised that a female caller had stated that a male had been shot inside the residence.

Further information provided was that the victim was alert and two male suspects had fled the scene.

Several officers and IPD supervisors responded to the scene. Officers said the victim was located, and they spoke with witnesses gathering suspect information.

Police say several sworn statements were obtained, and that the victim was alert and conscious at the time. Air Medivac was requested but unavailable, according to police.



Bangs Ambulance transported the victim to a regional trauma center, and IPD’s Crime Scene Unit responded to the location and collected evidence.

Two suspects were described by police as follows:

Suspect #1: Black male, large build, approximately 6’1” tall — 240 lbs., with a dark complexion, wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt.

Suspect #2: Black male, slim build, approximately 5’9” tall, 190 lbs., light to medium complexion, wearing an all-black sweatsuit.

The incident does not appear to be random, according to police. The investigation is active, and anyone with more information is urged to contact the Ithaca Police Department at (607) 272-3245.
