UPDATE: Officials say bomb threat at Geneva school resulted in investigation, increased police presence

Officials with the Geneva City School District updated the public on a bomb threat, which was etched into a computer at the Carter Road Complex on Wednesday.

Heather Swanson, Public Relations Officer for the district said “Late last night Geneva City School District officials were alerted to a bomb threat.” She continued, “The Geneva Police Department, New York State Police, and Ontario, Wayne and Seneca County Sheriffs all responded with K9 units and performed a thorough search of the campus.”

A bag search was also conducted as students entered on Thursday, and police are maintaining an increased presence for added security.

Swanson reports that the investigation is ongoing, and that the district will continue to do everything in its power to ensure students and faculty are safe.

A number of threats have been reported and investigated throughout the Finger Lakes at area schools, which have prompted a number of investigations, and even some charges.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
