Sad end to a long life at Newark senior community

For Delores Correll, the feelings remain raw.

A month ago, her father, Don Loveless, was found bloodied and barely alive in bone-chilling, early-morning temperatures outside the senior living community where he lived. The 92-year-old died a day later at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

The village Police Department is investigating his death. However, the circumstances surrounding how Mr. Loveless ended up outside in the freezing conditions near his Armstrong Living Center residence on East Maple Street is still a mystery at this point, Police Chief Dave Christler said.

“Our investigation is pending, as we work with the Monroe County Medical Examiner (Office) on a cause of death,” Christler wrote in an email in mid-February. “To date, there does not appear to be any foul play. It appears that Mr. Loveless left his apartment and either could not get back in or just laid down in the snow.”
