New Tyre municipal building to use solar panels for energy

The new municipal building proposed for Tyre will have solar panels to provide its electrical energy.

That information is included in the site plan and special-use permit the town has requested. The Seneca County Planning Board will review both at its meeting Thursday night.

Tyre’s municipal building would be constructed on a 5-acre parcel at 1082 Gravel Road. The 7,900-square-foot structure will have a meeting room, courtroom and offices for town court and other departments. About 75 parking spaces are planned.

The town bought the land from Steve and Sharon Lawrence in December. It paid $22,500.
