Waterloo man arrested after domestic incident, accused of striking child

Police say a 29-year-old Waterloo man was arrested after a reported domestic dispute at an Inslee Street residence.

On March 1st around 11:21 p.m. members of the Waterloo Police Department arrested Joseph A. Jones, 29, for the report of a domestic incident.

Upon investigation it was found that Jones had prevented an individual from calling 911 — and had struck a child under the age of 17-years-old when that incident turned physical.

He was subsequently charged with second-degree harassment, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Jones was arraigned in Waterloo Village Court and committed to the Seneca County Jail in lieu of $250 cash bail or $500 secured bond.

The Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the incident, according to police.
