State Police: Felony DWI charge for Wolcott driver after traffic stop

State Police report the arrest of a Wolcott driver following a traffic stop on Waters Road after allegedly making an improper left turn.

Nicholas D. Stevenson, 29, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating in violation of restrictions, improper left turn and criminal impersonation.

He was placed under arrest after failing multiple standard field sobriety tests, according to police.

Stevenson was transported to State Police HQ in Wolcott where he refused to submit to a breath test — and even gave a false name and identification.

Police say that Stevenson also had a previous conviction within the last 10 years, which made pushed the most-recent charge up to felony status.

He was ultimately arraigned in Wolcott Town Court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 secured bond.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
