Pedulla’s wins ‘Retailer of the Year’ honor

Selling New York wines isn’t something Brian Finnerty does for public service, given his store is smack-dab in the middle of the state’s biggest wine-producing region.

For him, it’s just good business.

Several years ago, Pedulla’s underwent a significant expansion that included creating a room focusing solely on New York wines.

Finnerty guesses he has bottles from at least 100 different New York wineries on his shelves.

The greater focus on New York wines has been a big success, he said.

“That’s what really got us to this point (of growth),” Finnerty said.

On Wednesday, Finnerty’s efforts were acknowledged by the New York Wine and Grape Foundation during the B.E.V. NY Unity Banquet held at the RIT Conference Center in Henrietta, where he was named Retailer of the Year. B.E.V. NY is the state’s annual conference for the grape and wine industry, coordinated by Cornell University.
