Chevrolet-Buick ‘tradition’ continues in Geneva

There has been a tradition of a Chevrolet-Buick auto dealership on Bean’s Hill — or more precisely, at 847 Routes 5&20 — since the late 1950s.

First there was Merritt Chevrolet. Then Bob Stenzel Chevrolet-Buick. Then Mike Barnard Chevrolet-Buick in 1998. Barnard retired in 2013 and sold the Geneva and Newark dealerships he owned.

Today that tradition is being carried on by the very appropriately named Tradition Chevrolet-Buick in Geneva and Tradition Chevrolet-Cadillac- Buick in Newark.

The current owners of the Geneva dealership and the sister dealership in Newark are the Hodge brothers. Makis Hodge owns the Geneva facility and Dario owns the Newark operation. The brothers are from Virginia Beach and came to the Finger Lakes after operating Infiniti and Volkswagen dealerships in Atlanta.

The 13,000-square-foot Geneva dealership underwent about $1 million worth of renovations in 2012 and 2013.

“I have no regrets about coming up here. It’s been great. My only regret is I didn’t come up here sooner,” Makis Hodge said.
