Police: Auburn man arrested for choking, imprisoning woman in domestic dispute

A 34-year-old man has been charged with felonies in two separate domestic incidents in the city of Auburn, police said.

Christopher Sweeting, of 122 S. Fulton St., was arrested Saturday and charged with two counts of aggravated family offense and one count of first-degree criminal contempt, all class E felonies. He was also charged with several misdemeanors, including two counts of resisting arrest and one count each of second-degree criminal contempt, obstruction of breathing, fourth-degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree imprisonment.

Auburn Police Chief Shawn Butler said a warrant was first issued for Sweeting's arrest in November after he violated a full stay-away order of protection. The order was put in place in October on behalf of a 26-year-old woman, and Butler said Sweeting violated it by contacting the victim via text message.
