FOR SALE: Lloyd’s Limited Pub hits the market after abrupt closure in Penn Yan

For Mark Sprague and Steve McMichael the goal is to restore the history and significance held by Lloyd’s Limited Pub.

That’s why the business partners have opted to sell the property.  On Tuesday, Sprague talked with FingerLakes1.com about the process that’s been unfolding at the once-popular pub.

“Lloyd’s has a tremendous, rich history including being a hotel, puzzle factory and speakeasy during prohibition.  It’s a beautiful building so we’ve been cleaning it up, and getting the property ready for sale. Our goal is to get it back to the community and into the hands of someone who will manage it in a way that will benefit Penn Yan,” explained Sprague, who said that ‘For Sale’ signs recently went up on the property.

Both Sprague and McMichael are Keuka Park residents, and are rooting for the location to thrive in the future. “The closure of the pub left a hole in the downtown business community and those businesses are the lifeblood of the village,” added Sprague.

The pub abruptly closed after former-owner Bob Champlin was arrested on multiple charges following an incident on Christmas Eve.

“We’re looking forward to selling the property to someone who can take Lloyd’s to a new level and make it an asset to the downtown core,” Sprague added.
