LATEST: Waterloo home severely damaged by fire, remains under investigation (video)

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce has provided an update to the structure fire that FingerLakes1.com reported over the weekend in the Town of Waterloo.

Luce says that around 10:50 p.m. on Friday deputies responded to a reported structure fire at 673 State Route 96. He says that due to the fire, the residential structure was severely damaged.

The Border City Fire Department was assisted by Waterloo, Junius, Varick, Magee, North Side, Oaks Corners, and Geneva fire departments.

While the fire was quickly extinguished, two people were at home during the blaze.

Luce says that one of those residents, identified as Daniel Ellison, was transported to Geneva General Hospital — then Strong Memorial Hospital for signs of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to Luce.
