Officials: State plow truck ‘total loss’ after fire on Thruway near Geneva exit

The Oaks Corners Fire Department reports that on Friday around 5:16 p.m. they were called to the New York State Thruway — Exit 42 on the eastbound offramp for a reported plow truck on fire.

Assistant Chief Zach Rey arrived on scene within a couple moments, according to the fire department, and reported a fully-involved New York State Department of Transportation Plow Truck.

The eastbound exit ramp was closed for about an hour, according to firefighters.

They say approximately 1,750 gallons of water was used for suppression and overhaul. No injuries were reported, but the 2014 Western Star plow truck was a total loss.

The cause of the fire appears to be mechanical in nature.
