William Smith College junior Mia Morrison became the 17th Herons to record her 1,000th career point tonight. She finished with a team-high 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, but host Skidmore College earned a 78-56 Liberty League win.
Morrison was limited to two first-half points in just 12 minutes. In the third quarter, she poured in seven points to move within three points of the career milestone. As the final seconds ticked off the clock, the Herons worked the ball around the perimeter looking for a seam in the Thoroughbreds’ zone defense. With time running out, the ball landed in Morrison’s hands just to the left of the top of the arc. She fired off a 3-pointer to beat the buzzer and swished it, hitting 1,000 points exactly. Read More
