Deputies were called to a portion of State Route 5&20 in Hopewell during the early-morning hours of Saturday after receiving a complaint that a vehicle, which appeared to have been in an accident — was being driven on nothing more than rims.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says deputies located the vehicle, which was traveling in the eastbound lane — operated by Cassandra L. Stewart, 29, of Hopewell and initiated a traffic stop.
Deputies say the right front tire was gone, and the left front tire was heavily shredded. The vehicle also had heavy right-front damage, according to those deputies on-scene.
Through the course of the investigation it was determined that Stewart was impaired by drugs. Deputies later discovered that Stewart struck a bridge and a parked car in the City of Canandaigua.
She was subsequently charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a motor vehicle on unsafe tires.
She was issued traffic citations and will appear in court at a later date.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that additional charges are possible, as the investigation remains ongoing.
