Deputies seek out suspect involved in shooting dog in Hopewell

The Ontario County Humane Society and Sheriff’s Office are investigating an incident involving a dog named Ellie.

The Humane Society reports that Ellie was found to have been shot at 2789 Smith Road in the Town of Hopewell. The incident took place after her owners let her outside.

She was taken to Monroe Veterinary Services of Rochester, where she was treated for a hip injury. Her tail had to be amputated as result of being shot.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call either the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office 585-394-4560 or Humane Society 585-396-4590.
