Feds: USPS mail carrier stole cash, gift cards in Ontario County

Authorities say a Victor U.S. Postal Service employee faces charges for stealing mail.

James Ludwig, 45, is accused of stealing mail while working as a mail carrier on a route in Victor. Federal prosecutors didn’t release many details about the investigation, but did note that the arrest stems from a number of complaints about missing mail.

Investigators determined that the missing mail reported to them contained cash or gift cards.

Ludwig was caught on surveillance video opening envelopes and removing items, according to prosecutors.

He’s been charged with mail theft.
