Deputies: Drunk driver drove through blocked off crash scene in Arcadia

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Newark man following a crash on State Route 31 in Arcadia.

Jesse D. Appell, 22, of Newark was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a BAC above .08 percent, and failure to comply with a lawful order.

Deputies say they were investigating a motor vehicle collision on State Route 31 in the Town of Arcadia when Appell drove through the accident scene where emergency vehicles had their emergency lights activated and had attempted to block the road.

He was stopped in the Wegmans parking lot and upon further investigation it was determined he was intoxicated.

Appell was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing where a chemical test of his breath returned a .13% BAC. He was issued traffic tickets to answer in Arcadia Town Court.

Deputies say no one was injured during the incident.
