Multiple departments called to Genoa building fire overnight

Firefighters in Cayuga County were called to a building fire in Genoa last night, which was reportedly ‘fully-engulfed’ when the first crews arrived on-scene.

Genoa, King Ferry, Scipio, Locke, Aurora, Poplar Ridge, and Lansing fire departments were called to the scene. Moravia RIT and Souther Cayuga Ambulance were also requested at the scene to assist.

First responders say the incident unfolded at 384 Tupper Road, which resulted in an exterior attack on the flames.

They did note that no people or animals were in the building at the time of the blaze.

After several hours on-scene, the firefight and overhaul were complete.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
