Multiple departments from Ontario County responded to a structure fire on Monday, which claimed the life of three family pets.
The cause of the fire on State Route 21 in Cheshire is under investigation, but was called in around 4:42 pm.
Deputies say that the home was fully-engulfed when they arrived, and as result of the blaze โ the property was a complete loss. The house was insured, according to deputies โ and no one living at the residence was home at the time of the fire.

Deputies also say that 31-year-old Keith J. Rose, who lived at the home on Route 21 attempted to enter the residence to save the family pets be he was unable to do so due to the heavy fire conditions.
He did sustains one minor smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene. According to deputies, Cheshire, Canandaigua, Canandaigua VA, Bristol and East Bloomfield fire departments responded to the scene.
East Bloomfield and Canandaigua ambulances also responded to the scene.
The Red Cross was contacted and responded to the scene, to aid the family. The cause of the fire is unclear at this time, but the investigation into the blaze will continue, according to deputies.
