The Cayuga County Office Building at 160 Genesee St., Auburn was evacuated Monday afternoon following a fire alarm activation on the sixth floor.
Auburn Fire Chief Joseph Morabito said there was no smoke or fire, and that a smoke detector had gone off “for no apparent reason.” Morabito said there are many instances that could set a fire alarm off including a bug crawling inside and tripping the alarm, to fumes from cleaning supplies.
It was not clear Monday what caused the activation.
