Supervisor Venuti to lead Seneca Lake group

Of the 40 municipalities in the Seneca Lake watershed, slightly more than half are part of a group working to protect the lake and improve water quality.

The new chairman of that group, officially called the Seneca Watershed Intermunicipal Organization, wants that number to go up.

“In 2018, we will be working to have more of the municipalities in the watershed become official members of the organization,” Geneva Town Supervisor Mark Venuti said. “We passed the halfway mark in 2017 (22 out of 40), but we need to bring more into the fold.”

Venuti was named to the leadership position at the group’s annual meeting earlier this month. He succeeds Jim Smith, a town of Torrey resident and outgoing Yates County legislator.
