Christmas came a bit early for the folks at Forge Cellars this year.

The gift wasn’t delivered by Santa — or even UPS, for that matter — but rather from the editors of Wine Spectator magazine. It wasn’t wrapped in glitzy paper with shiny bows but showed up on page 66 of the magazine’s Dec/Jan issue, which came out about four weeks ago.

In the magazine’s listing of the Top 100 wines in the world for 2017, Forge’s Riesling Finger Lakes Classique 2015 is ranked No. 31.

That bears repeating: No. 31 … in … the … world.
