Calling it a “huge success,” Seneca County Undersheriff John Cleere said the sheriff’s office recently completed its first Citizens Police Academy.
“We used Ontario County’s model as a base when we put it all together,” Cleere said. “There were 10 participants. We kept the class small so we could do a lot of hands-on activities and class discussions.”
The academy included four sessions in November. Each focused on a different aspect of the sheriff’s office, including administration, road patrol, criminal investigations and corrections (jail operations).
