SF school board honors departing principal

For outgoing Mynderse Academy Principal Andy Doell, his arrival in Seneca Falls 13 years ago “seems like yesterday.”

Doell, who will begin a new job as Bloomfield school superintendent in early January, was honored at the Dec. 7 school board meeting for his service to the district — nine years as Cady Stanton Elementary principal and four years as Mynderse Academy principal. Doell received an engraved vase at the meeting (which he was encouraged to fill with his beloved M&Ms, blue and white preferably) as well as a round of well wishes.

“This is a bittersweet situation,” said Seneca Falls Superintendent Bob McKeveny, who said he considers Doell a friend and learned much about leadership from him. McKeveny noted that Doell always weighed issues from the perspective of “what’s best for the kids.”

“I know that he will be missed,” McKeveny said, as he turned to Doell. “You have left a mark that will be long lasting in this district.”
