Earlier this year, Groton residents Jennifer Dean, Monica Dykeman, Sara Knobel and Hayley Wheeler, were recognized as part of the Tompkins County Youth Services Department's “40 Caring Adults” campaign. Touched by the recognition, and inspired by the campaign, Dean and Wheeler, both Girl Scout leaders, were humbled to think about all the other wonderful adults who help make Groton a wonderful community.
Dean said “There are countless organizations and programs in Groton that rely on the support of volunteers who dedicate their time to our community. Many of these volunteers do so behind the scenes and expect nothing in return, but how great would it be to show how much they are appreciated?”
Based on these thoughts, Dean and Wheeler have launched the Groton VIV/VIP Campaign.
If you know of a volunteer who has made an impact on your life, your children, or the community at large, nominations will be accepted at tinyurl.com/grotonvolunteers from now until Jan. 31, 2018.
