Two face drug, weapon charges in Schuyler County

On Friday at about 2 am, Schuyler County Sheriff Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on State Route 14 in the Village of Montour Falls after a Vehicle and Traffic Violation was observed.

A search of vehicle and its occupants revealed a quantity of Heroin, Marijuana, a schedule II controlled substance, and a weapon.

James J. Shortt, 21, of Millport is being charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a class “B” Felony, one count Criminal Possession Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree a class “A” Misdemeanor, and one count of Criminally using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree a class “A” Misdemeanor.



Shortt is scheduled to be arraigned in the Village of Montour Falls on the charges.

Dustin L Hubbell, 23, of Alpine was also arrested and charged with one count of Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument a class “A” Misdemeanor, one count of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana a violation, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree a class “A” Misdemeanor.

Hubbell was released on an appearance ticket to appear at a later date.
