It’s going to be quiet and warmer than usual on Tuesday. In fact, it’s going to make it feel like early-October, rather than late-November.
Temperatures will soar into the upper-50s, with some parts of the region getting to- or above- 60 degrees.
As FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil explains – change is on the horizon, though.
“An area of high pressure over New England and a storm system over the Midwest are interacting to bring a broad southerly flow across the northeastern corner of the United States.
An associated warm front is situated just southwest of the Finger Lakes this morning, but already temperatures have risen slightly overnight.
There are a few spotty clouds associated with this front, but once these move out, the remainder of the day should be mostly clear.
Warm air from the southwest will start to move into the Finger Lakes this morning on some gusty south winds.
Combined with the sunshine, these winds will help temperatures rise above average this afternoon.
The warmest temperatures will be near and west of Rochester where highs will be near 60 degrees. Further southeast, towards Ithaca and Cortland, highs will be in the lower 50s.
The wind will gust over 30 mph at times today and will continue to do so into the evening hours.”
