Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack evacuated as roof fire investigated on Saturday

The Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack in Farmington was completely evacuated on Saturday around 7:10 am after a roof unit, associated with the facility’s HVAC system reportedly caught fire.

According to first responders, no fire or smoke was visible from the outside. However, after around 10 minutes of investigation – it was determined that a unit on the roof was causing the initial fire and smoke condition.

When the call initially came into the 911 Center, it was reported as ‘visible’ smoke and fire from a duct associated with the HVAC system on the fifth floor. It

The facility was completely evacuated when the first crews arrived on-scene. Victor and Farmington fire departments, as well as Victor-Farmington Ambulance, were called to the scene.

As the investigation got underway at the facility, scanner traffic indicated that the cause appeared to be ‘electrical’.
