Even though it was their first day of Thanksgiving break, several Seneca Falls school district students woke up early Wednesday to do a good deed.
Again this year, Seneca Falls Middle School math teacher Dave Major spearheaded a drive to provide Thanksgiving dinner fixings to area families. He enlisted the help of school staff members and the police department, and in doing so was able to provide twice as many meals as last year.
Major said 100 turkeys were donated by school staff and police officers, with cash donations provided by the Seneca Falls teachers’ union ($150), the Seneca Falls Police Benevolent Association ($100) and the It’s a Wonderful Run Committee ($250). Those funds helped cover the cost of trimmings. The organization Majorpalooza (it’s associated with Major’s family) also helped subsidize the meals and provided meals to Cayuga County families as well.
