Spending and the property tax levy are up in the 2018 Ontario County budget, although the tax rate will be the same as this year.
The $223.7 million budget was approved at last week’s Board of Supervisors meeting. Spending is up 2.31 percent over the 2017 budget of $218.7 million.
Next year’s tax levy is $57.3 million, a 3.2-percent increase over the 2017 levy of $55.5 million. County Administrator Mary Krause said the levy is compliant with the state tax cap.
The county property tax rate for 2018 will be $6.31 per $1,000 of assessed property value, the same rate as this year.
Krause credited the stable tax rate to a team approach by department heads, the county finance department, legislative committees and her office.
